Sugars and spices and chemical vices
Relying on battery life of devices
Expressing emotions through interface graphics
That don’t work correctly when increased in traffic
The message dropped out with the Wifi connection
Erasing my response to all of your questions
But context gets lost when it’s read on a phone anyways

Parking and speeding, unconsciously peeing
The legal citation said, “Falling or fleeing”
The rooftop that gave me a view of the turf
That had brought out my best after showing my worst
On the street where I slipped when life got lubricated
And I took it out on the self that I hated
‘Cause that’s what you do when you can’t take it out other ways

Huddled in circles we try not to freeze
As the temperature drops down to 40 degrees below zero With windchill and it won’t warm up ’til next week
Car still won’t start and the door’s frozen open
You crack a new can and you raise it to hoping’
The check doesn’t bounce that you sent out for utilities

I tore out a journal entry because looking back
Some of the phrasing was no longer accurate
Might as well just scrap the whole stupid thing
‘Cause I feel like a liar whenever I sing about Something that’s drifted away from my mind
And for mental health reasons it’s probably time
To let bygones be bygones ‘Cause there’s nothing more left to say
